Just when we think we’ve figured things out, the universe throws us a
curve ball. So we have to improvise. We find happiness in unexpected
places. We find our way back to the things that matter the most. The
universe is funny that way, sometimes it just has a way of making sure
we wind up exactly where we belong.
We spend our whole lives worrying about the future. Planning for the
future. Trying to predict the future. As if figuring it out will somehow
cushion the blow. But the future is always changing. The future is the
home of our deepest fears… and our wildest hopes. But one thing is
certain, when it finally reveals itself, the future is never the way we
imagined it.
Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In the face of
all we can lose in a day.. in an instant… Wonder what the hell it is
that makes us hold it together.
At some point maybe we accept the dream has become a nightmare. We tell
ourselves the reality is better. We convince ourselves that it’s better
if we never dream at all. But the strongest of us, the most determined
of us, we hold on to the dream…or we find ourselves faced with a fresh
dream we never considered. We awake to find ourselves, against all odds,
feeling hopeful. And if we’re lucky we realise, in the face of
everything, in the face of life, the true dream is being able to dream.
People have scars in all sorts of unexpected places, like secret road
maps of their personal histories, diagrams of all their old wounds. Most
of our old wounds heal, leaving nothing behind but a scar, but some of
them don’t. Some wounds we carry with us everywhere and though the cut’s
long gone, the pain still lingers.
You know as well as I do it’s not about what you look like, or your job,
or how successful you are. It’s about having people in your life that
you love and who love you… that’s all that matters.
At some point you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other
people out, they fence you in. Life is messy, that’s how we’re made. So
you can waste your life drawing lines or you can live your life crossing
them. But there are some lines that are way too dangerous to cross.
Here’s what I know: if you’re willing to take the chance, the view from
the other side is spectacular.
